Literature Text

Despite hearing all about this thing, seeing it in person was never going to end well. The limited knowledge had on this thing mainly consisted on its hatred for humans and various ways it could kill you which include, but is not limited to, crushing, eating and mutilating.

Your breath was caught in your throat, a lump made itself adamant there. The creature was not necessarily looking at you, but it was damn well aware of your presence. It was only a matter of time before it decided to make a meal out of you…

The intercom buzzed again, this time the man in control was shouting at you for not approaching the SCP. The greenish, rotting, lizard looked up as they spoke before looking back down again. It didn’t seem too bothered by you for now, though that is probably because you are keeping your distance and not screaming.

The people in control would never let you out until the ‘testing’ was complete. It wasn’t really a test, to be honest, you just needed to collect a blood sample. This sounds swell and all but there were numerous issues with that. One being that this creature was fully conscious and would obviously reject the idea of willingly giving a sample of its blood. Another being the fact that it hated everything and everyone, meaning the closer you got the more likely it would turn on you and masacre you.

The intercom buzzed again with furious scientists telling you how they would bring you out and shoot you if you did not collect the sample. Despite that sounding like the better way to go, you knew you had to at least try to collect the sample. Giving up means a 100% chance of death while, despite being exceedingly slim, there was still a chance of survival if you went through with the sample collecting.

You took two hesitant steps forward, just to make sure they were aware that you were actually going to collect the sample. Your internal conflict continued as to how would you retrieve the sample. The white coats gave you some syringe thing but that was about it. How could you get anything out in that? First you needed to approach the thing, then you needed to find some convenient patch of skin to extract blood from, then you would need to get the f*** out of there.

Eventually, after much self debating, you decided just to wing it.

Every step closer to the lizard made you sense the impending doom, or impending pain. The lizard, now fully aware of your presence, stared at you with cold, calculating eyes. It was probably working out the best way to kill you.

Barely a few feet away from the creature is when it first made its move. It roared loudly, and when I say loudly boy do I mean loudly. It had the kinda roar that said ‘your death is inevitable’ all over it. You flinched away the moment you heard it, imagining the gory end that awaited you and the looks on the scientists faces when it happened.

Your instincts were telling you to run away while all your limbs were still in tact, though your mind was racing with thoughts on how to complete your objective and get out alive at the same time. Your thoughts, however, were cut short when you were forced to jump when the lizard swung its tail at you.

Slipping on the remnants of whoever was your predecessor, you skidded slightly on your landing and didn’t have time to react to a clawed foot lashing at your stomach, which made you go flying backwards. Blood pouring from the gaping wound. You cried out in sheer agony, the red hue staining your shirt.

The ‘hard to destroy reptile’ began to approach you, slowly, mockingly. You knew it overpowered you. It knew too. There was no way you could take it down or out maneuver it. Your only advantage, which you could see, was the height difference with you being much more smaller.

“D-9398 your test has been terminated by higher authority, make your way to the exit at once” The intercom boomed, much to your relief for once. You didn’t need to be asked twice, hobbling as fast as you could to the exit.

“All humans are disgusting” Echoed around the room as you left, causing you to turn back to look at the lizard. You heard somewhere that it could talk.
“As are you…” You said in a low tone, more in reply to what you believed was the lizard talking, before the cell doors slammed shut and the acid poured in.

A cacophony of sounds invaded your ears the moment you were out. None seemed to care that you were bleeding out, they seemed to care more about the fact that someone higher up decided that you weren’t going to die today, though you were sincerely grateful for that.

After a load of arguments and shouting, you were finally sent off to have your injuries treated to. You didn’t realise it all at once, but the last few months were a walk in the park compared to what you were about to undergo.

The higher ups who ‘saved’ you had something much worse planned for you than a swift execution. It was going to be long… and painful.
I think this went badly. Though, I did not have many ideas for this chapter so............ I'll try to make the next better.
